I will give a brief overview of the current observational facilities that Swedish astronomers enjoy access too. I will focus on the optical telescopes, how we access them, what science they enable and also what great observatories we will have in the future. Although the talk will mainly focus on European facilities a brief overview of the most important American, Australian, Japanese and Chinese ground based facilities will be included.
