Description

Plasma can be used to support ongoing chemical conversion processes, such as catalysis and combustion or to initiate chemical processes to, for example, convert hydrogen from CO2/CH4 gas mixtures or decompose toxic species. However, these applications are rather challenging to explore since plasma-related dynamics are very rapid and stochastic. Work is needed in order to find ways to explore plasma that, in turn, can be applied to understand and optimize plasma-related applications. Pulsed laser diagnostics are ideal for investigating plasma since it offers exquisite temporal and spatial resolution in combination with high species selectivity.

The work presented here partly concerns research that is carried out at the Division of Combustion Physics on plasma-diagnostic and development of plasma-related applications as well as future plans for building up experimental platforms for plasma related activities.
