Sweden is the 2022 organizer of the Spaatind conference, in Skeikampen.
Invited Richard Brenner and Johan Rathsman as organizers of previous editions, and got contact information for both Spaatind and Skeikampen.
We still have to decide on location and get information on costs, but we will prioritize organization of Partikeldagarna for now.
Problem: there is no earmarked money for the IPPOG fee, starting in 2021.
Discussion with Richard Brenner (has experience with VR/RFI). VR funding is reserved for things that are closely related to CERN membership (ACCU/ECFA/RECFA meeting, council meetings, summer and technical students), so not much hope to find outreach money there.
Jonas Strandberg has a contact with Kristina Careborg in the context of a Swedish visit to CERN, that was then cancelled due to the corona situation. We should try to talk to her before this visit happens.
According to Christian Ohm, Kerstin Jon-And and Richard Brenner, Mattias Hamberg is still working on a report on CERN activities, and there will be a meeting in the Fall → partikeldagarna will be a chance to ask questions.
Sten proposes a stopgap solution where each institute benefitting from IPPOG provides 10kSEK, we should approach our institutes for this if we don’t have a solution by after the summer.
Most likely all virtual: UU guidelines for the autumn are “in person if needed, on distance if possible”. It is difficult to book a room, especially complying with physical distancing and max 50 people rule. This is for the first part of the autumn.
Christian made the agenda from the last edition at https://indico.cern.ch/event/933206/.
Agreed on plenary speakers, Elin and Erin will contact them. [speakers also agreed].
Caterina went through the webpage and fixed some of the problems with names/affiliations and updated the board. Now need to also fix the left-hand side menus so that all the sub-menus are visible.
We have been asked to give a 10-sentence update on an activity related to the board for the main webpage, and we decided to talk about the COVID-19 response. Caterina and the Lund WLCG grid experts will come up with a text, and Elin Bergeas Kuutmann will translate it to Swedish.
