Where do physics students work after graduating, and how are they using their education?
The Labour market council at the Faculty of Science presents results from an alumni survey and discusses the link between education and the labour market in Physics
We will present results from an alumni survey of recently graduated students in Science and Physics. Our results give information about what the students do after graduation and how the education is relevant for their current employment. Our study shows that about half of the Physics students continue to a research education, and that a large proportion is going into work outside academia. The respondents from Physics said that they have very good subject knowledge, but also that they are less well trained in general competences such as data analysis and programming. We want to discuss the link between the physics education and transition to the labour market and what opportunities and challenges the students might face after graduating.
