Future accelerator discussion (Including Rebeca Gonzalez Suarez and RECFA representatives)
Proposal for a FCC-day in the Nordic countries, introducing the community to the FCC project
Virtual meeting of 2x half days, to gauge interest. Should include connections to astrophysics.
Joining forces is advantageous, because this is not the particle physics community’s main interest at the moment.
The board “approves” an email going out to Elpasfysik.
A mailing list could be created for FCC-Sweden activities to forward info.
Follow-up on SFS membership
Document for follow-up in CERNBox:
https://cernbox.cern.ch/index.php/s/DpRan0IlnFmxrmq
For next partikeldagarna, we should put the “if you join this meeting, please join SFS, especially if you are a speaker” in the introductory emails.
SFS Partikelsektionen website
Sidebars are now fixed, but information is rather old
We are encouraged by overall SFS chairs to keep the information on that website rather than create our own
Next meeting: dedicate some time to decide what content we want to have, and who takes care of gathering it prior to publication.
This includes the “bylaws” for the various elections of representatives and lists of past representatives.
Discussion on follow-up for VR report
Discussed main ideas from Partikeldagarna panel. Main question: how will VR follow up on the report, what will change?
Caterina emailed Richard Brenner (who had a meeting with VR last week) but no reply yet.
Other ideas of how to follow up:
Consider to have a new funding system or adopt criteria to value research sustainability and return on investments.
Follow-up point (minor): how do fluctuations in e.g. currency don’t influence CERN fees?
Think about a Swedish roadmap [timescale: 10+ years] for large (detectors/particle physics) infrastructure? Exercise already done with European Strategy.
There is a 2-year one done for RFI (infrastructure one)
Swiss example? [to be added when public, in next meetings]
Could have a document that highlights our priority and the benefits of working on the exploitation of that. As a community we need to be able to make compromises and get closer with others to fit in rather than keep doing what we have always done.
Example of the Swedish di-Higgs effort but expand to detector and operations
ECFA detector panel Swedish responsible is in the board, interesting to see the interplay
Keep in mind that VR “overcrowding” is also due to some universities not paying researchers/faculty salaries beyond teaching
Remember also:
inclusion of particle and astroparticle physics in activities and VR discussions
the role of the MC community supporting LHC which can’t rely on 5-year timescales either
