It-security is a big topic that can not be covered in one Rydberg
session. We think that the most important way of reducing the risks is
to better understand some of the basic principles of how computers and
Internet works. Therefore, during this presentation we will try to
answer some rather big questions like what is Internet and how does it
work. Who has control over it and who can you trust on the network.
Further more, we will try to explain; what is an IP-number? What is a DNS and why is it important? How can an e-mail find its destination so fast,
and why do I get so much SPAM. How can one see if an e-mail is a scam
of some sort or not?
Some other questions might be;
What is wrong with "AktuelLTH" or what is wrong with the University.
Most people are hopefully aware about the importance of making
backups, but the opposite, to make sure that there is nothing left
behind is perhaps not so well understood.
This presentation will be on a rather basic level and is intended for
everyone at the department who is using a computer at work.
