This Course belongs to the series International School on Complexity, directed by A. Zichichi, and co-directed by G. Benedek, A. Rapisarda and C. Tsallis. It will be held at the Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture in Erice, Italy during the period April 22-28th, 2024.
Purpose of the Course:
The main focus of the Course is to connect the mathematical foundation of complex systems to quantum computing and artificial intelligence, and to elucidate the applications of these approaches in several different fields of natural sciences.
The main topics of this Course include fundamental physics applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence including quantum machine learning. Several experts will be invited to give lectures on selected topics to PhD students and young scientists with interests in theoretical physics, material science, statistical physics and computer science.
The Course is directed primarily for PhD students and young researchers whose interests and research are connected to complex systems, machine learning methods and their applications. Senior researchers and participants from non-academic (industrial) background are very welcome to attend the School as well, subject to availability of space.
A limited number of oral contributions and poster presentations will be accepted.
Format of the Course:
Arrival day: 22nd of April
Departure day: 28th of April
We plan for a hybrid (in-person & online) event. All the lectures and presentations will be broadcasted via Zoom.
The hybrid format will also be applied for coffee breaks, welcome drink and School dinner so that on-site and remote participants would stay connected and have an opportunity for informal discussions.
Tuition fee and registration:
All participants of the Course are required to fill the registration form. The registration deadline has been extended to
***** April 15th 2024 *******
Due to a limited capacity of the auditorium, in order to guarantee availability of space we encourage an early registration.
Upon acceptance, participants are requested to pay an all-inclusive tuition fee which will cover also accommodation in Erice and meals during the entire period of the Course plus shuttle services to and from airports. There is a small fee for online participation too.
Information about the fee payment procedure will be communicated to the accepted participants via email shortly after the registration has been completed and reviewed.
