Description
The next Rydberg seminar will mainly discuss questions concerning undergraduate teaching 2016/2017. New partnerships across faculty borders have been initiated, thus this seminar is intended for all teachers at the department – regardless of faculty affiliation.
Collaboration – Nuclear Physics
During summer, a joint nuclear physics-lab has been created. UDIF's nuclear physics-lab in the L-building and LTH's equivalent in the B-building have both moved into the former computer lab, H212. From now all laboratory exercises in nuclear physics (undergraduate level) will take place in this room.
Collaboration - labs
Hakan Ivansson, our technician, will from now spend part of his time being available also at UDIF's laboratory exercises.
During the fall thematic meetings between teachers on undergraduate courses (both faculties) will be initiated. The aim is to find and develop the best of our respective laboratory exercises – to improve the quality of laboratory work for all students. Please sign up for these meetings!
New rooms - existing and future
The new computer lab for LTH-students is now found in K204. The room has 22 windows computers. The Computer Management Group at LTH is responsible for operation and maintenance.
Five new smaller rooms have been furnished in K200. These can be booked via Indico (we hope soon to be able to use the common booking system TimeEdit3), but will, when they are not booked for teaching, be available as study rooms for our students.
There are plans for new uses of the corridor connecting building L with building H. More info coming up!
Projects on educational development
Two of three applications for pedagogical development projects have been granted by LTH – the department will receive a total of 875 000 kr. The third application, which concerned upgrading of laboratory equipment, has been transferred to an upcoming call for proposals – mainly aimed at financing equipment.
Economy – GU-LTH, and joint advanced courses UDIF / GU-LTH
We have received a preliminary distribution of funds (GU, 2017) from LTH.
Of the joint advanced courses only four (4) do not reach the minimum number of participants (12) and thus receive no funding (from LTH).
Report from a seminar
Short report from an interesting seminar on student’s writing, plagiarism etc.
Other
All participants will of course be given the opportunity to talk, ask questions or just mingle in general!
