1 November 2016, 14:00 - 15:15
The meeting is chat-only; participats: Anders, Balazs, Oxana, Mattias, Maiken
Quick summary:
The question is raised about bug #3592, which was resolved in revision 31487, according to Bugzilla, which brings two quesions:
1. Revision 31487 does not actually resolve the bug, and possibly was listed by accident.
2. If the bug is fixed, we need a *major release* (16.11) ASAP, otherwise Debian will remove ARC on November 25, Such a release will drop support fofr older platforms much sooner than we originally planned, and this short time leaves no space for testing. We will also lose canl-c++
Regarding the first issue, bug #3592 is re-opened and made a P1 BLOCKER. It can be closed only when the openssl-1.1 branch is merged into the (major) release.
Regarding the urgent major release, Mattias proposes the following options:
1. Only submit the new release to Debian unstable and Fedora rawhide, and keep the current version in the older releases for now.
2. Or also build the new release for the older platform on which it is supported, but keep it in the testing repos for an extended time (i.e. more than the minimum 1 or 2 weeks) while it is tested.
No final decision is made since Aleksandr wasn't around and Balazs had to leave.
