Description

In high energy collisions of heavy nuclei, densities and temperatures are believed to be high enough for a quark-gluon plasma (QGP) to be formed. Such a plasma will decay very quickly, and to study its properties we need study the large number of hadrons which are produced. Lately it has been noted some of the signature features of a QGP are present also in collisions of protons, where it is unlikely that a thermalised plasma can be formed. We are now using the detailed simulation models which very precisely describe most features of proton collisions to understand these QGP observables better and to develop a full microscopic simulation model for heavy ion collisions.
