Lecture 1

Ola Wassvik, CTO at FlatFrog Laboratories AB: FlatFrog Touch - Combining Signal Processing with Non-Imaging Optics

FlatFrog has just launched its third generation touch system that is going in high volume production for All-in-one PCs. This presentation will go through how FlatFrog combines signal processing with non-imaging optics to achieve multi-touch on large surfaces. We will talk about how to use multiple low signal-to-noise measurements to recreate touch events and all the challenges that come from making low cost optical systems that can be run in high volumes.
 

Lecture 2

Joakim Bood, Combustion Physics, LTH: Laser spectroscopy for combustion studies

Combustion constitutes more than 80% of the global energy production. It is, however, well known that combustion processes also lead to emissions that are harmful to both environment and health. It is thus of utmost importance to develop as efficient and environmentally friendly combustion concepts as possible. This task requires a detailed understanding of combustion processes on a macroscopic as well as microscopic level. The processes are however extremely complex, involving hundreds of different species and chemical reactions that often take place in highly turbulent flow fields. To understand these complex systems advanced measurement techniques together with detailed models and simulation tools are needed. This presentation will focus on how laser-spectroscopic techniques can be utilized for non-intrusive diagnostics in different combustion environments. Laser-diagnostic combustion studies of fundamental character as well as practical applications will be discussed.
